National Planning Commission held a Planners Workshop at Oasis Motel, Tlokweng. The objective was to reflect on the learnings from the development of past plans and discuss the approach for developing NDP 12.
In her opening remarks, the Assistant Commissioner General responsible for National Planning, Ms Koontse Mokgwathi, implored all in attendance to ensure alignment of sector strategies to national priorities, concise and consistent messaging across the plan, as well as being intentional in adopting digitally transformative approaches. She further provided that the plan should be guided by the UDC manifesto, the 2025/26 Budget speech and the national spatial plan.
She highlighted that His Excellency the President in his recent address of Kgotla meetings, has indicated that there will be extensive NDP 12 consultations to ensure that the final Plan accurately reflects the aspirations, views and needs of the people.
Furthermore, Ms. Mokgwathi indicated that the National Planning Commission Advisory Council has been established, and their role is to, amongst others, provide strategic guidance in the development of NDP 12. The Council has met recently to review the draft Keynote Policy Paper (KPP).
Lastly, she informed workshop participants that the Minister for State President, Hon Moeti C. Mohwasa, will soon consult and engage with all Districts Leadership with regards preparations of NDP 12. The Hon. Minister is also scheduled to brief the Media on the extension of the TNDP on Monday 7th April 2025.
