About NPC
NPC participated at this year’s Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair held in Francistown from the 22nd to the 26th May 2024. The theme of the event was “Sustainable Innovation: Building A Greener Tomorrow.” The NPC stall, was designed to depict the relationship between the theme of the event with the work that the organization does.
The first image of the stall walls depicted wind mills and solar panels, showing how building a greener tomorrow through sustainable innovation can me be made a reality. This was in accordance with how the TNDP talks to the plans to transition from coal-fired power to renewable energy is already mapped out in the Integrated Resource Plan.
The second image spoke to how sustainable innovation requires excellence. It then emphasized that the NPC vision is for the organization to be a model of excellence in national development planning and delivery. Within the TNDP, the development of Climate Smart Agriculture covers precision irrigation and precise planting nutrition; climate management control in greenhouses; as well as location and communication systems.
The third image of the stall addressed Vision 2036, emphasizing that change is inevitable. This is the change of the nation’s thought process, behavior and perception. The vision defines the nation’s aspirations of Batswana and states the goal to ‘Achieve Prosperity for All’. It is driven and coordinated by four (4) pillars that are defined by Botswana’s economic, social, environmental and governance systems.
The last image highlighted how the national vision is aligned with the aspiration of Africa Agenda 2063 and Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and its Associated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), both of which are the regional and international Agendas. This is reflective of Botswana’s efforts to reach international standards of development, as well as a high income status.
This was NPC’s story that the team representing shared with the general public, both at the stall and on social media. Interaction with Batswana visiting the stall showed that there is need to intensify public education on NPC’s mandate and strategic interventions, particularly the national vision.
